Anambra state was created on the 27th of August 1991. The capital is Awka. Located in South Eastern Nigeria it derived its name from Omabala, the river that flows through Anambra state and is a tributary of the River Niger.

Number of Local Government Areas: Anambra state has 21 Local Government Area

Boundaries: Delta state to the West, Imo and Rivers state to the South,  Enugu state to the East and Kogi to the North.

The indigenous ethnic groups are the Igbos which make up for 98% of the populace while the remaining 2% of the populace are the Igala tribe. 

Natural Resources: Natural gas,  Crude oil,  Bauxite, Ceramics and an almost 100% Arable soil.
