Ebonyi state was created on the  1st of October 1996. The capital is Abakaliki.

It got its name from Abonyi which happens to be the River that makes up the major water body of the southern part of the State.

Slogan: Salt of the Nation.

Number of Local Government Areas: Ebonyi state has 13 Local Government Areas.

Boundaries: It is bordered to the north and northeast by Benue State,  Enugu State to the west,  Cross River State to the east and southeast, and Abia State to the southwest

Natural Resources: Lead, Crude Oil and Natural Gas, Salt, Limestone, Granite.

Tourist Attractions: Abakaliki Green Lake,  Amanchor Cave, The Golden Sand Beaches,  Mkpuma Ekwa Oku Rocks,  Okposi Salt Lake,  Slave Market Route at Ezza.
